Projects
PSALT networks with individual missionaries and missions networks carrying out ministries in both China (North Korean refugees) and North Korea. Donations can be made to any project with specifications if so desired. If no specifications are made, donations will be distributed as per known and/or urgent need that is brought to our attention.
MANNA 111 (NK Orphans)
It costs one dollar to feed one NK orphan child per month. Soy protein enriched flour is purchased in China and brought directly to NK orphanages. The amount estimated is based on bulk costs.
MUSTARD SEED (NK Orphans/Students)
We purchase study materials for NK orphan children, such as learning utensils (pencils, paper), and infrastructure materials (rugs for pre-school, roofing, chairs). These schools are visited/monitored regularly by missionaries. This project also serves to create inroads for Korean Americans (English speakers) to enter North Korea and serve as ‘teachers.’
HIDING PLACE (NK Orphans in China/NK)
We support NK Refugees hiding in various areas of Northeast China (orphans, families, trafficked women). All general costs are included. There are approximately 1,000 refugees we assist. 75 cents per day can cover the costs of sheltering one orphan child (clothing, heat, caretakers, very basic medicines, etc.)
BREAD OF LIFE (NKs returning to NK or already in NK & NK Refugees in China)
This project centers on the discipleship of North Korean escapees (old & new Christians) to equip them for evangelizing in NK. Shelter, training, materials and aid supplies are provided. This project is located along NK/China border regions. It also delivers Bibles into North Korea in an effort to support NK Christians in NK. Bibles are also purchased and distributed to shelters in China for NK Refugees living there.
HOPE VILLAGE (NK Refugees in the US)
Our newest project, Hope Village, is a comprehensive resettlement, acculturation, education, and training support structure to help NK Refugees adjust to new circumstances in a community of love and spiritual support. We plan to work and partner with government agencies, community organizations, and churches to provide NK Refugees with basic necessities, job and skills training, language and culture training, and a community of love and acceptance.
EXODUS (NK Refugees, Defectors in Transit)
We provide support for NK Refugees in urgent situations who need to reach a nation that would accept them and provide them with opportunities for care.
After PSALT’s first mission to China in 2006, the organization doubled the number of ministry networks/missionaries it supports. At the start of 2007, we have been blessed by the Lord’s provision to increase all giving to each sponsored ministry. Throughout the 2007 year we have increased our giving for one-time support and emergency situations, including the addition of an ‘Emergency Relief Fund’ to support victims of the floods in North Korea.
